Ànima / Llum Bcn 2020
In a world of persistent competition, the more information is collected about people, the more power is obtained over them. Our data circulates around the world at the speed of light. It ceases to be our property, and becomes part of an archived data system. The filaments which interact with the soul become symbols of collective information that remind us that we belong to a system which shows, like the lamps of thousands of optical fibres, we are all equal and indistinct, linked to a digital soul.
“Ànima” is an immersive installation of more than 3,000 fibre optic threads to portray the data universe at the Llum BCN 2020 festival. This immersive space shows one of the fundamental elements of the society of knowledge: fibre optics. The installation will have a second life after the festival and some of the material will be donated to the Tot Raval Foundation, which will use in various workshops.
